Caribbean Blue
I’m here in the Caribbean singing on a gorgeous cruise ship and I must say, I’m quite enjoying it! The blue of the water is absolutely stunning! You forget when you leave just how amazing it is but coming back, it hits you all over again making you almost glad that you forgot. Humidity here is different, not oppressive but soothing. It spreads a calm over everything making even a busy day seem relaxed and lovely. The green in the plants is vibrant and energizing. The fruit makes you feel healthy just by looking at it. As I’m typing this, the …
Hana-li Gets a New Band!
Hey everybody! So, yes, I have new musicians that totally ROCK! I have the same bassist (because he’s awesome), Forrest Conner, and the same lead guitarist, James Makan (also awesome) and I got a new drummer, Dylan Chee-A-Tow, new keyboardist, Jens Sweeting, and a new, temp rhythm guitarist, Alana Hallquist. They picked up the songs quickly and are all a pleasure to work with! We played our first show last Sat with great feedback so I’m super happy! Now I’m singing on a cruise ship in the Caribbean for three weeks and then back home to do more shows! I’ll …
Late Night Creativity
I’ve noticed that creativity tends to be strongest in the artists I know in the late hours of the night. Why is that? Maybe it has to do with the solitude and quiet. Maybe it’s that you’ve had the day of inspiration. Maybe it’s that you’re in the dark and feel like you’re suspended in space and have the universe at your fingertips. Whatever it is, it’s real, I feel it, they feel it and for some reason I love it this way. Thoughts for the night. By the way, it’s currently 2:43 am… Thanks for reading. Hana-li
Optimism
I like to look at the glass as half full. Why? Why not?! If you live your life looking at all the possibilities, you leave yourself open for adventure and solutions rather than depression and problems. And that simply sounds better to me! Life is filled with hardships but it’s also filled with love, beauty, friendship, color, music, laughter, good movies, road trips, snow, sunshine, orange juice and puppies! I mean really, is that so bad? Whenever something hard comes your way, give it good cry and then pull yourself up, look to the future and do something about it. …
Justin Nozuka
Hey everyone, Just thought I’d let you know about an artist that I’ve recently discovered, Justin Nozuka. To me, he gets it. His lyrics are beautiful and not what you’d expect, which I love, and his voice is incredible. I saw him live at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA a little while ago and he nailed every song, both in performance and communication. That, to me, is the most important thing, to really feel what the artist is saying like they truly care about it. His band is superb and every detail was in place. He blends acoustic with …
Tonight, Tonight…
Tonight’s acoustic show was so much fun! We did two sets for different groups of people and it was really cool to be able to feel out the songs differently, twice in the same night. It was a very intimate setting at Pangea Cafe in downtown Clearwater (thanks for having us) and the whole experience was wonderful. I love the staff there and everyone who came out was great and really participated in the show! Thanks guys! Now I’m watching some “Lost” (mid season 6 so don’t tell me what happens!) and then off to sleep to prepare for tomorrow. …

FREE Acoustic Show!!!!
Hey there! So I’ve been quite busy with a zillion good things! First I went to NY for my grandma’s 100th birthday! We threw her a swing dance party where she danced all night, she’s amazing! Then we drove up to NH for some time in the gorgeous woods and organic food straight from the farm. Next it was back to NY to drop off the car and out to San Diego for a few meetings. Away to LA to see friends and back to San Diego to catch a flight home. PHEW! Once I was home, it was straight …
